4th of July Style

July 4th is my ultimate favorite holiday! Why you ask? Well for starters it is at the very beginning of the summer meaning there is tons of warm weather to come. Secondly there is no real activity expected other than eating, drinking and lighting off fireworks. And finally, for the past 20 years I have been chilling in upstate New York at my best friend’s house which is conveniently located on one of the finger lakes. It is a little slice of heaven with people I adore and are like my second family.

Now even though this chilling is insanely relaxed, I still have a stylish reputation to uphold. With any holiday comes the “costuming” part of the equation. What am I going to wear to fully represent honoring our forefathers? Below are some cute ideas for doing just that, George Washington would be proud.

Last year I was lucky enough to bring along my entire family. Yes that means 6 other people besides myself, my second family and the one I was born with luckily really like each other! As you can tell from the picture above, I’m not the only stylish one in my clan. My nephew Nathan believes in dressing up appropriately for July 4th as well (or at least his “stylist” mother does). The key to any good themed look is to make sure it is just that, a theme. You should not end up looking like you are wearing a costume. To execute this properly you have to be playful with the concept. A little red here, a little blue there, throw in a splash of white and you are good to go.

Red and White Romper

                Romper

I’m all about a comfy and cute romper. Yes it is age specific, but I’m almost 40 and still rocking it so don’t be afraid of an awesome onesie. I LOVE the one above because it is actually easy to go to the bathroom. It is obviously cute which is super important, but every lady who has worn a jumper knows that the second most important element of this piece is simplicity with the on/off function. The other great element of this romper is that although it is July 4th friendly, it can also be worn any other day of the summer without hesitation. Remember my words of wisdom, think theme NOT costume!

Blue Headband

Headband

Adding a themed headband is the most inexpensive and easy way to show off your patriotic side on July 4th. You can pick something like this up for around $10 and slap on a red lip, boom, July 4th ready. This particular option is also utilizing a big trend for summer ’18, gingham. So don’t worry about this cheap and chic purchase, you can definitely wear it over and over throughout this summer season!

Red swimsuit

Red Swimsuit

What July 4th holiday is complete without a dip in the water? Why not choose a fabulous swimsuit to compliment your love of all things America? This awesome red one-piece is not only super patriotic, but it screams 007 babe. Why not conquer 2 amazing themes in one? You are a sexy James Bond girl that loves her country.

Ray bans

Sunglasses

The final touch of any great July 4th look is always going to be your sunnies. One thing you can almost always count on for this summer holiday is some rays, so why not protect your eyes in style? I love RayBans in general, but their aviator style is always on point, or as the kids say, “on fleek”. The blue tinted lenses let people know that you think our forefathers rock and that you are stylishly proud of the place you call home.

Now July 4th will not only be about beer, fireworks, burgers, barbecues, boats, the beach or whatever you do to celebrate this rad summer holiday! It will mostly be about the most important thing that binds us together as Americans, your super cute and stylish July 4th outfit!!!
