“Be Wary of Client’s with Whips” is the fourth episode of Million Dollar Shoppers and was named by me! I was hoping they used one of my quotes for a title:) I worked with Liz Gaspari, a yoga pant wearing supplement company CEO in need of a fashion upgrade. They chose just the right shopper for the job.
Liz showed me to her closet filled with AMAZING and expensive pieces. Chanel, Louboutin, McQueen, the whole family was there…. Unworn. My heart hurts just writing such awful words! Check out these $4000 Loutoutin’s, worn once. You hear that sound? It is my heart breaking. I rocked an Alice and Olivia leather bomber (same as I had on for the interviews) and a red Parker dress. Of course I topped it off with Kara Ross NY jewelry!
I headed over to Ports 1961 to pick out some basic foundation pieces to build Liz’s look off of. I wanted to stick to sheath dresses and separates including pencil skirts. She likes tight clothes so I was going to give them to her… But in an appropriate way! I wore a BCBG black blazer and Kara Ross NY gold horn necklace.
I layered on even more Kara Ross NY bracelets while pulling extremely expensive lace tops. I am all about some good arm candy!
I arrived at Liz’s New Jersey home with $70,000 worth of goodies. This in NOT my typical pull! But darn if it isn’t fun to get that much stuff. I had on Derek Lam for Khols pants and my favorite leather bomber. High and low is my mantra! This cream neck tie blouse is a no name designer that I got for barely nothing at Nordstrom Rack. The greatest part is that I wear it all the time!
My big premiere night at the Project Runway Allstars party was AWESOME!!! I am totally obsessed with my Erin by Erin Featherson jumper. Rent the Runway was kind enough to lend it to me (I know people in high places:). And of course, my favorite accessory designer Kara Ross NY let me borrow REAL ruby earrings and an amazing silver clutch. Only one glitch, check out the white shiney spot on my calf. I cut my leg shaving and put HD makeup on it under my nude fishnets. It shined like a big white light when the camera flashes went off!! Oops. And P.S., I couldn’t go to the bathroom all night because the front is double stick tape and it is one piece. Meaning, the entire thing had to come off to go potty. Rich people problems, I know.
Oh yes, that’s me on the red carpet right behind Alyssa Milano, the host of Project Runway Allstars. I need to practice my posing though… You can see my clutch perfectly, but it should have been head on for the line of photogs. Note to self: Cancel plans Saturday night, practice posing in the mirror.
One of my bestie’s came as my plus one. Danielle is a childhood friend and it was so much fun to have her by my side seeing this crazy experience happen. She knows me before there was an actual camera on me (as opposed to the imaginary one I constantly perform for:). How fab is her sassy look??
This picture has two important elements: J.D. and my awesome earrings. This lovely gentleman is responsible for getting me cast on Million Dollar Shoppers. Orginally the show was set in three cities and I was not chosen as the NYC shopper. They reformatted the show so all the shoppers are based in NYC, hence they needed more people for the cast. J.D. revisted the original interview tapes and brought me back in because he saw my comic genius:) Wearing borrowed jewelry that is totally real is a close second to having J.D. cast me. But then again, I couldn’t have the second without the first!!
How amazeballs is this Kara Ross NY clutch? I wanted to add some funky, classic touches to my lace and silk jumper. I thought this clutch and my earrings were the perfect additions. And you see that Lifetime place card? That means VIP baby. We had our own fancy section closed off to the other party goers. I am not this fancy, but I am pretty good at pretending when I have too!!
This is the first time all five of the Million Dollar Shoppers have been together AND it is the first time I ever met Tayler. We filmed completely separately so none of us ever knew each other until recently. It is a funny bond when you meet someone that you don’t know, but are totally aware that you are about to go on a crazy ride with them. I love the mix of personalities and really think that each one of us add something pretty great to this crazy and fun show.
This week’s episode of Million Dollar Shoppers was interesting to say the least. I met with client Jennifer Gilbert who is an event planner in NYC. If you had the chance to watch the episode, then you already understand my “interesting” experience. If not, feel free to take a look on Lifetime and learn about my after thoughts.
The first time I met Jennifer was actually the very first day of filming. I had no idea how the show was going to go and was nervous, but in an excited sort of way. I wore a DVF kimono blazer, Stella and Dot necklace with a leather Ted Baker pencil skirt.
I got this awesome kimono at a consignment store, it was half off and brand new!! Never underestimate the power of a good consignment store because it is not always “gently worn” clothes. My Stella and Dot necklace was gifted to me because they work with a lot of TV personalities and I am one of those now!:)
I traveled to Henri Bendels which is one of my favorite accessory stores. I wore another Stella and Dot necklace and my Magachoni white button down. I love this store. It is 3 levels of amazing pieces and is like a huge candy store for someone like me. It used to be a full department store, but then they realized there are crazy people like me who LOVE a paradise of accessories…
Holy good price for an amazing piece!
This leopard neck tie blouse is a purchase from Off 5th, the best designer discount store ever!!! It is the “leftovers” from Saks. I love a good neck tie blouse.
This Preen dress was absolutely amazing. The material was thick so it actually acts like Spanx when it is on sucking everything in, how fabulous!
This polka dot DVF blouse was also from the same consignment store the DVF kimono blazer is from AND I bought them on the same day. I walked in because I had time to kill and walked out with so much stuff I could barely carry it. I tried to only purchase a few things, but that is the thing about consignment, if you find amazing things you have to get them or you will never see them again!!!
Interviews are fun. You get to say everything you were thinking the entire time. It is like talking behind someone’s back, but they get to hear it. It is a very weird experience because they take place long after the actual filming and you have to talk in present tense. I am wearing an Alice and Olivia leather bomber and Michael Kors necklace. I am totally obsessed with the gold hardware on the bomber!!!
Incase you missed the first episode of Million Dollar Shoppers, fear not! You can watch the recap video here and learn about my what I was really thinking on Lifetime. Below are some of my favorite outfits I wore during filming. After each episode every week, be sure to look back here for my personal input on the show and my outfit choices! If you have any questions feel free to comment to receive personal styling advice.
Do you like my hair? I totally have clip in pieces on the sides. I love fake hair!!!!
I am totally obsessed with this Helmut Lang blazer. It is a must have in all my client’s closets. It is originally $600, but of course I managed to get it for $230. It is completely worth the price tag, it literally goes with everything. LOVE. The black jumper is from Aqua and was gifted to me for hosting an event at Bloomingdales. And don’t forget the bag… It is by Milly and was brand new at a consignment store where I snagged it for $120. I hate paying full price (for myself:).
This fun sequin top is from J.Crew and was lent to me by one of my besties. I literally ran out of clothing at this point and production had very specific ideas of what they wanted us to wear during interviews. I paired it with hot pink studs and hot pink lips for just a touch of color. I didn’t want anything to compete with my top!
This short sleeve tuxedo blazer is from H & M almost 8 years ago. There are certain pieces from that store that seem to last, and then there is the rest of it. I paired it with a fav find from Loehmann’s, I love a good rhinestone necklace.
This leather bomber is literally da bomb. Yup, I said it. I have never seen another one like it.. Cropped sleeves and a ruffle collar, yes please. I got it over the summer about 5 years ago for $200 down from $600. Off season buying is brilliant if you know it is going to be a staple in your wardrobe.
This blue DVF dress with leather trim was a full price find, but I knew it would really pop on camera. Don’t you think? Honestly, I am kind of impressed with how I look since I accidentally stayed up way to late the night before. 12 hours of filming=go to bed early!!! Lesson learned.
Check out the HUGE bracelet on my left wrist. It is from one of my favorite designers, Kara Ross NY. She lent me a ton of stuff for shooting which is a perk of being me. I probably have on at least one of her pieces in almost every scene of the show. Lucky me:)
Unlimited budget? Apparently so. This is not usually the norm in my real life, but I certainly don’t mind when it happens. Hope and Graceann were hilarious and a total pleasure to work with. They were fun, outgoing and SO excited to be a part of the show. They trusted me as a professional, but weren’t afraid to tell me what they thought. I loved working with them and would be happy to style them again!!
