I love big, shiny things. They call to me in my sleep, “Come here and buy us Amy… You want to wear us Amy….” Just a normal night’s sleep for a fashion stylist.
Kendra Scott jewelry is an awesome line that actually lets you create your own big, shiny things. She basically gives you the map and tools to choose your own fabulous color palette. It is simple and easy, not to mention fun.
When romping around Henri Bendel’s a few weeks back, I came across this designer. I was a bit confused at first because there was a long table with tons of different stones in amazing colors. There were also a bunch of empty skeletons for earrings, necklaces and rings. It was quickly explained to me that this was a “do-it-yourself” type of jewelry project. Ooohhh goody!
There are a few, easy steps to this creative, jewelry making process:
Step One: Select your jewelry silhouette
Step Two: Choose your custom stone combination
Step Three: Watch the Kendra Scott representative create your custom style in just minutes!
Step Four: Awesome (I created that one:)
So there you have it, custom creations created by you. Not only is this project great fun for your own personal collection, but what a great gift idea? You can give the same pair of earrings out to all of your friends in different colors! Did I mention how easy this was?????
Danielle Earrings in Plum on Gold-Tone: $60
Danielle Earrings in Cobalt on Gold-Tone: $60

Otylia Ring in Python on Gold-Tone: $75
I am obsessed with accessories. This is pretty much one of the most simple and straight-forward statements I can make about myself. I love them, I search for them, I hoard them. They are quite simply the easiest way to change up your entire ensemble without spending a ridiculous fortune. When you feel an “emergency shop” coming on where the only thing that is going to fill the void is a purchase, buy accessories.
Henri Bendel’s, a very well-known New York City 5th Avenue store, has become your one stop shop for everything emergency. They have recently rid themselves of everything apparel and are now solely selling trinkets in every possible form. Brown and white stripes being their signature pattern, they have doused their own brand of products with the very sophisticated style. With their price points being nothing short of fantastic, these bobbles are the perfect pick-me-up for any gal who wants to instantly change up her look. No need to live in NYC (although it is pretty amazing:), just go on-line and pick up a few bobbles for yourself!
Love yourself in this scarf with pink trim. At $88, it won’t break the bank, but it will surely pump up any look. Use it as a neck scarf, head scarf or have a little fun and wrap it around your wrist like a bracelet!
This is a great option for a trendy chain link purse. They are SO in style right now. Even though it may be a trend, this piece is classic and neutral. For $178, the cost-per-wear is completely reasonable!
Another option to liven up your look is to refresh those things that live inside your purse. You think they don’t matter, but they really are the details that keep it all together! This is a cute, little sunglasses case that comes with it’s very own attitude. It is an easy purchase at $98. Your sunglasses need to have a fabulous place to live!
Don’t beat yourself up anymore about buying something because you just needed to. Shop accessories and you will inevitably not only use them, but not drain your bank account in the process!
Watch is available for $195.00
Last night I did a Sass n Style party with a lovely (and entertaining) group of women. One of the women (who has attended twice!) told me about a tweet that Clinton Kelly did about how to look good even at the grocery store. Not to be outdone, I wanted to show off my version of “Errand Chic”.
I have often spoken to clients about how comfort and style SHOULD go hand in hand. People have this idea that unless you have on super high heels you are not looking excessively fashionable. Sex and the City is a TV show people and NO ONE walks miles in 5 inch Manolo’s. Oy, my feet hurt just thinking about it.
The fact that you do not have on your pumps does not mean that the rest of your look should go out the window. It is time for what I refer to as “my pajama look”. It feels like pajamas, but it certainly does not look like them! For those days when getting dressed seems like a task, or you just don’t have to go anywhere that fabulous, you can still look fabulous. In fact, you should always look fabulous! Always.
Pull out those leggings, they are seriously your savior for days like this. If leggings aren’t your thing, jeans are a great second option. One of these two items will work for almost all body types so have your pick. The ideal combination for achieving this stylish “pajama look” is to add a longer, looser top. Remember, you want to be as comfortable as possible so wearing something that is looser through the middle will only promote this. As to not look pregnant, choose a style that has some sort of cinch at the waist, like a belt, or wear a longer necklace to break up the looseness of the shirt. Throwing on a trusty pair of ballet flats will keep the look insanely comfortable and still channel your chic side. A hat and sunglasses are a choice for the day based on how hungover you are or if your hair is way past the point of no return.
So there you have it. There are no excuses and no reason why looking stylishly fab is not a rule for life….. No matter how crappy you feel or where you are going. Done and done.
