Festival Style

It’s that time of year again… Festival Season!!! This is quite possibly my favorite season because it combines music and fashion. One of my favorite events, that occurs all summer long is the PS1 Warm Up Party. I also go with my two besties, Allison and Danielle. It helps that they are equally as stylish as me :)

Pick one piece and build a look around it. Comfort is key.  These cropped, ripped boyfriend jeans are great for festivals because they are comfortable for wearing all day and still give off the casual vibe that is festival worthy.

Pair your distressed jeans with this crocheted fringe top. Sometimes you can get super hot at these festivals so it’s necessary to keep cool and wear less…flaunt what you got ladies!

So I personally have no clue what the big hype behind these rather ugly (sorry if you like or own some) shoes is, but hey it seems they are “in style” especially when it comes to festivals. I will let this pair slide because they have the spiky, cool factor. Updated versions are a yes, true Birkenstocks still scare me.

These sandals are WAY more my style! The cute colored embroidery adds a little funk to your look and the flat sole makes these wearable all day.

If you’re more into the easy, throw on look, I would stick with a simple sundress. Personally, I love sundresses because they are no fuss, no muss and you can look cute in no time (who doesn’t like this). The Kate Moss for Topshop line just hit Nordstrom stores and the looks are totally fab! This dress is perfect for festivals with its Aztec print and lightweight material.

Accessory time, the fun part!!! What’s better than a hat? They serve two purposes: They cover up your dirty hair (you are at a festival, you probably haven’t showered), and they protect you from the sun. If you aren’t a big fan of hats then the other must have hair accessory is a flower headband. You can design your own with flowers of your choice. Some people that are super crafty can make them themselves but for those that struggle with crafts, like myself, Etsy.com is the perfect place to have one custom made to your liking.

So now that you have the look down, it is time to buy tickets….

Topshop for Nordstrom

Let’s take a moment to praise the fashion Gods, Kate Moss for Topshop has arrived at Nordstrom. I know that is a lot of names in one sentence, but it is all the right ones. Kate Moss has teamed up again with Topshop, a big (and decently priced) retailer from England, to bring you a new collection. Better news, Nordstrom is selling it too. And don’t forget the rest of the regular Topshop collection…

One of my absolute favorites from the collection are these wide leg pants. Prints for the bottom half are trending this season so they add a perfect pop to your summer look. Wide leg is hard to pull off if you are under 5’6″, so just add a small (or big) wedge for some height.

And, if it ever actually gets warm here on the east coast, I am buying this bright orange two-piece. LOVE. I have a small chest (very happily, thank you!), but the T-strap caged back provides a lot of support for the bigger busted gals. Now I just need a tan…

I just don’t know about the skort phenomenon. I suck at tennis, so where am I wearing this thing?? If you are down with this (I allow you to be), then you can be tennis chic in this color , black, red, or white. Buying all 4 colors is not permitted :)

Yes to this jacket. I know that this is a huge trend and it literally seems like everyone owns one (especially in NYC and LA), but there is a reason. It works…With everything. And you can bunch it up and leave in your bag as a layering piece, it is not just an outdoor jacket!!!

I love a good maxi dress. They are comfortable, chic and easy. Need I say more? The only issue is length. Like any long dress, expect tailoring if you are below 5’6″. The good news is for for all you tall ladies, this piece is your friend. There is usually length to spare…Did anyone catch those shoes?? Just say NO to trendy birkenstocks. Seriously??

So now there is no excuse for not looking fabulous for the right price. You can travel to Topshop (there is one in NYC, come say hi to me!), Nordstrom (they are all over) or just hop online. You will look like Kate Moss in no time…

Pastels for Summer. Groundbreaking!

Yes. that is sarcasm in case you didn’t get it. But honestly folks, some trends are really just here forever. This apparently makes them more like staples of your wardrobe, welcome pastels. pastels 1Straight from the runway, these sophisticated yet pretty looks are ready for the taking. If these looks were in dark colors the vibe would be completely different. Using a pastel palette makes everything well, pretty. Soften your look instantly.

If you want something to wear to work that won’t be your typical boring black pant, try these wisteria colored cropped pants with scalloped pockets from J. Crew. The color isn’t too bright, but it still adds something fun to your work wardrobe.

Trends from the runway always trickle down to major retailers. Take this peach sheath dress from the Limited for example. If paired with the right accessories, you can make it look super expensive for work or a bridal shower. Simple and easy, sheath dresses can be styled in endless ways making them a great staple for anyone’s wardrobe. Check out the Limited for an entire pastel collection!!

For super cute casual weekend attire, these J Brand skinny jeans in coral are great for shopping or running errands. Paired with a basic white T, this is a simple yet chic look for spring. Warning: You kind of look like you have no pants on. I own these and I look naked on the bottom half in pictures! Positive: You pick up lots of men :)

pastels 5My best girlfriend Rebecca Minkoff made this lovely bag, Ok, maybe we don’t know each other personally, but many of her pieces reside in my closet because they are awesome. The pastel color makes it pretty, the hardware makes it edgy, my favorite combo. It is the perfect pop of pastel to any spring look. Just this one piece for $295 will get you into the trend!

Not to keen on pastels? Just add one piece and you will be the belle of the spring ball!

My favorite thing in the world to do is judge celebrities on the red carpet, even better when I am doing it on camera with Barbet instead of doing it on my couch. Watch us on Arise.tv dolling out our favorites and those that didn’t quite make the cut:)
